‘I was more nervous than her’- Sachin Tendulkar after facing Ellyse Perry in Bushfire Bash
Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian batsman took the field in the Bushfire Bash without thinking much about his health. It was a big day for Cricket Australia in their quest to raise funds for the people that have been struggling with the adverse effects of bushfires.
The Aussie Women star bowler Ellyse Perry challenged none other than Sachin Tendulkar to face her for one over. In no time, the former Indian cricketer accepted the challenge to raise funds for the natives while keeping his health factors aside.
The challenge took place in the innings break of the Bushfire charity match. The Indian veteran donned the Aussie floral green and gold jersey while facing Ellyse Perry and her Annabel Sutherland. Sachin smacked the first delivery for a boundary and showed that he still can outclass anyone around with his batting.
After facing Perry, Sachin said that he was more nervous than the Australian pacer. He was not sure if he will manage to spot the ball or not. He also revealed that after the nets, he took some throwdowns to gear up for the challenge. However, he was not confident if the ball will hit make contact with his bat in the game.
Sachin Tendulkar keeps his health on the line for Bushfire Bash
On the sidelines, Tendulkar added that it is not easy to get back on the track. One has to spend lots of time in the middle to get back into the grooves. It was quite difficult for him as he has to go against the doctor’s advice. But, his main focus was to raise funds for the Aussie natives and he was pretty happy that he managed to generate a decent amount for the people affected by bushfires.
“I think I was more nervous than (Perry) because I was not sure whether I was going to see the ball or not. I told her after last evening’s nets, I did one throwdown session and I can see the ball but I cannot guarantee whether the ball is going to hit the bat and spend some time in the middle. One has to spend hours on end.
Today, in fact, I have gone against the advice of the doctor’s because if I could get out there and play an over we’d be able to generate some money and that was the understanding so I’m here for that cause and I think that we’ve been able to generate a decent amount,” Tendulkar said on the sidelines.
