Sachin Tendulkar in tournament finals
Sachin Tendulkar s record in Indian victories is simply brilliant and nails the opinion of sceptics that he is not a match winner. For years, Tendulkar has epitomised India s hopes on the cricket field and in Virat Kohli s words “carried the burden of the nation.”

If one looks at Tendulkar s record in tournament finals, it makes very interesting reading and stands testament to his match-winning abilities. Of his 49 One-Day International (ODI) hundreds, Tendulkar has scored six of them in the final of a competition. Not surprisingly, India has been on the victorious side on all the six occasions.
Here is his overall record in the said games:
Here is the break-up of Tendulkar s hundreds in tournament finals:
|128||131||Sri Lanka||Colombo||7-Jul-98||Singer-Akai Nidahas Trophy|
|124||92||Zimbabwe||Sharjah||13-Nov-98||Coca-Cola Champions Trophy|
|117*||120||Australia||Sydney||2-Mar-08||Commonwealth Bank series|
|138||133||Sri Lanka||Colombo||14-Sep-09||Compaq Cup|
Four of the six hundreds came in the year 1998 – a year that saw him rise to new heights and set new benchmarks. However, the last two have been fairly recent as they came after a tough phase – one during which some people had written him off. The 117 not out against Australia took on the might of Australia on their own turf and sealed a memorable triumph for India. In 2009, Colombo was treated to a spectacle as he dominated the Sri Lankan bowling that boasted of the likes of Ajantha Mendis and Lasith Malinga. That hundred ensured that India clinched the Compaq Cup.
